13 Months

Olivia you're 13 months old today! So what have you been up to?

You weigh 22.5 pounds and are 19 inches long. You wear 12 month clothes and size 4 diapers. You have eight teeth. Four up top and four on the bottom. You're constantly chewing on things so we know more are coming.

You say mama, dada, hi and cat. You say cat everytime you see them. Once you saw a bunny on tv and said cat. You love to chase Salem around the living room but have learned to keep your distance.

You say moo when we ask what a cow says. You know where your belly is and love to shake your head yes and no. You can also make an Indian sound. You love to imitate us and have us imitate you. Whenever you clap you want us to sing Pat-A-Cake.

You walk in a fast walk, almost running. You love to climb up everything and are very good at getting off backwards and feet first. We don't worry about you falling off our bed anymore. You're able to get yourself down but you know that it's a long fall. You love to play with balls and run into them so you can "kick" it.

You are eating everything. We've started giving you spicy food. You usually spit out the first bite but then will try it again. We haven't found a food that you don't like. You still say mmm when you eat. You're no longer using bottles or formula. Yay! You have a milk sippy and water sippy.

You love to play with your shape sorter. When you want to play you bring it to us and throw it at us. You're able to put in all the shapes except the heart. After trying if you can't get it, you'll just throw it on the floor and get another piece. You are also good at your puzzles. Your favorite book is "Pat the Bunny".

(Your Daddy dressed you today)

You have learned so much this month. You are such a happy little girl. You love to get your picture taken and sit in your chair so you can pose. Everyday we're amazed at how much you've learned and grown. We love you very much!!

Love,
Mama

I'm so excited about having another baby. I know that the next few years are going to be crazy but I love being a mommy. This last year with Olivia has been amazing and I'm in complete of awe of her. Can you tell I'm very emotional? I cry everytime I see the preview for Babies. I can't wait to see it. I LOVE babies!

We've Got a Streaker

This weekend was a chilly and rainy so Olivia and I hung out around the house while Jesse worked. We didn't do anything exciting but Olivia did have a couple of firsts.

We played in the sandbox she got for her birthday. I didn't get her any sandbox toys until last weekend. She tried to eat the sand a couple of time and realized it was yucky. Livie's is very good at sharing her toys

Every afternoon Olivia has a cup of milk so this weekend I also gave her her favorite snack, goldfish. It was the first time I gave her something in a bowl that she didn't turn over. She happily drank her milk and ate her goldfish while she watch Jack's Big Music Show. Which I'm happy to say was the only TV she watched that day.

Sunday mornings I cook french toast, pancakes or waffles for breakfast. It's always very sticky and Olivia requires a bath after breakfast. For the past few weekends I've had her in a robe during breakfast so we don't dirty any clothes. This morning I put a load of laundry in the wash before giving her a bath. So while I was doing that she took off her robe and diaper. Yep. I came upstairs to my Livie streaking through the living room. Ha! I wanted to take a picture, but Jesse would have KILLED me!
Olivia's hair is starting to get very thick. Both sides of the family are blessed with thick hair. Olivia does not have the patience for me to towel dry it so today we tried a blow dryer. At first she seemed to like it but then she ran away. She'd come back into the bathroom when the dryer was off and run away when I turned it on. Thankfully I was able to get her hair dried before she ran away. Here she is after her first blow out, pre-brushing :)

Olivia also played with my phone this weekend and called a lot of people by accident.  So if you got a call from me and all you heard was silence...it was Liv.  Sorry.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!!! I hope everyone was able to take a little time today to enjoy Mother Nature.

Cheap Entertainment

We've been thinking about getting Olivia a play kitchen so she has some entertainment when we're in the kitchen. Apparently all she needs is a chair. ha! She spent over 15 minutes pushing the chair all over the kitchen.
She's also going through a closing door phase. She is constantly closing door and her gate when it's open. I think she likes to lock us in. Sometimes she makes a mistake and ends up locking herself in and then hollers at us until we open the gate.

On another note.  Yay for being born! Today's my birthday.  I'm not excited to be older, but happy to be alive.

15 Weeks

How far along: 15 Weeks
Sleep: I'm sleeping great in between the 3-4 times I get up during the night to use the bathroom.
Best moment this week: Olivia stopped using bottles.
Symptoms: Right now my back is killing me.
Food cravings: Fruit punch with a splash of Sprite. I'm not craving food...just beverage.
Gender: Unknown, but I feel like it's a girl (I'm sure I'm wrong)
What I miss: Sleeping on my belly
What I am looking forward to: My next OB appointment on May 7th. I should say my birthday, but that just means I'm going to be in my mid 30's. Ha!

This week I have a juicy little navel orange. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I still have six months (pregnancy is TEN months long) but I feel like there is so much to do before the little pumpkin arrives.

In other baby news, my sweet little niece Delaney was released from the NICU on Thursday. Amie has the house on lock down (I don't blame her) but I can't wait to meet the little bundle of joy.

My dear friend and co-worker Laura was placed on bed rest today. I'm praying for her sanity over these next few weeks and that baby Feather makes a safe arrival.

No More Bottles

For the past few weeks we've tried to convince Olivia that she doesn't need to drink milk out of a bottle. Shes been drinking water out of a sippy cup since she was six months old. When she stopped drinking formula and starting drinking milk we decided to wean her off the bottle as well. For weeks we tried a lot of different cups and she refused each time. This morning we tried a new sippy and shockingly she drank from it and was very happy. We've gone an entire day without using a bottle. Yay!!
I also bought Olivia some small cups for her to practice drinking out of and she's carried them all over the place this weekend. She even took one to her crib at nap time. Ha!
My birthday is this week and Jesse gave me my gifts tonight (we're not very good at waiting). I squealed in excitement when I saw he got me a new vacuum and Shark steam mop. I've been wanting both for awhile now. I was so excited about the Shark that I quickly put it together and happily cleaned my kitchen floor. I have to say I'm impressed with Jesse. When we first got married he said that he'd never buy me an appliance or cookware for my birthday or Christmas because he knows that's why people get divorced. I'm glad that after 9 years I've been able to convince him that as long as I ask for it, it's totally okay to buy. My concern is should I really be so excited to get a new vacuum cleaner? Man, do I life on the wide side. Ha! My fingers are crossed that I get a new dishwasher for Mother's Day!

14 Weeks

How far along: 14 Weeks
Maternity clothes: Pretty much all I wear now. I'll probably take this question out since I'm not going to stop wearing them anytime soon.
Sleep: I'm sleeping great in between the 3-4 times I get up during the night to use the bathroom.
Best moment this week: Seeing the little pumpkin on Friday.
Symptoms: I still have a belly and it's only going to get bigger.
Food cravings: I drank a whole container of lemonade...I don't like lemonade. But as I'm typing this wish I had a glass to drink.
Gender: Unknown, but I feel like it's a girl. With Olivia I thought I was having a boy so I'm sure I'm wrong.
What I miss: Being able to eat unlimited fish and seafood.
What I am looking forward to: The weekend
Everything is going great. I only get sick 1-2 days a week. Yay! Tonight our cute little lemon felt like a watermelon. ha! The baby was definitely growing tonight. I also think I felt the baby kick today, but I'm not sure. It could have been gas, but like to think it was the pumpkin.

Appointments for the Little Ones

This morning Jesse, Liv, and I went to the OB's office for my 13 week checkup. Dr. E was so happy to see Olivia and can't believe how big she's getting (neither can we). Dr. E brought in the sonogram machine so we could see the baby. The little pumpkin was very active. It was kicking and rolled over a couple of times. It's such a precious little pumpkin. Dr. E measured the baby's heartbeat and it was a healthy 150. Then she tried to pick up the heartbeat on the doppler but the baby kept moving around. So we didn't get to hear the heartbeat but I love that we got to see the pumpkin again.

Next we went across the hall and had Olivia's one year check up. She weighs 22 pounds 3 ounces and is in the 50%. Jesse thinks she should be in the 100%. Ha! But then again he thought she would weigh in at 26 pounds. Olivia is also 29.5 inches long and in the 75%. Dr. Hannagan told us she looked perfect, but we already knew that. She had a great time at her appointment. I think she enjoys running around in a diaper. Then Liv had to get her one year shots and it was heart breaking. She had a good 10 seconds of not breathing before she began crying, and crying, and crying. Thankfully she hasn't had any reactions to the shots.
Olivia only had an hour nap today so after dinner she was getting very silly. She would "gently" fall down on the floor and then laugh at herself. It was so cute.
Now every time Olivia sees my camera she crawls up in her chair and gets ready for a picture. Ha! She also loves playing with the phone Auntie Nichole gave her for her birthday. Liv's always pulling it behind her as she walks around the living room. She hasn't dialed any number yet, but that's probably because they don't make phones like that anymore.

Welcome to the Family Delaney

My little niece, Delaney joined our family last night five weeks ahead of schedule. Delaney weighs 4 pounds 2 ounces and is 17 inches long. She is doing very well but will need to be in the NICU for awhile. My sister-in-law, Amie is slowly recovering from her preeclampsia and surgery. Please help us pray for their health and quick recovery.

13 Weeks

How far along: 13 Weeks
Maternity clothes: Pants and now I'm starting to wear maternity shirts.
Sleep: Great. I'm sleeping through the night and still have energy during the day.
Best moment this week: Spending Easter with the family
Symptoms: I have a belly
Food cravings: Shrimp Po'boys. We made some Saturday night and they were yummy!
Gender: Unknown
What I miss: Nothing
What I am looking forward to: I have an appointment Friday. It'll be the first time we get to hear the baby's heartbeat. Then right after it Olivia has her one year check up.

I can't believe I'm four months pregnant and in my second trimester already. This week the baby is a sweet little peach and I feel great. I still have energy after Olivia goes to bed and actually get some housework done. My nausea is also under control (for now). Friday night I was very uncomfortable and woke up Saturday with a belly. I look like I'm six months pregnant. I knew that I would show early I just didn't think it would be this much or this quick. I guess I got some new maternity clothes just in time. ha!

When I was pregnant with Olivia I was so worried about...everything. But I had a very smooth and easy time. Now I don't worry much and hope that I'm not taking it for granted. I pray that I'm blessed with another easy pregnancy. However I am listed as a possible risk because this is my second pregnancy in less than 12 months. I think it's just a formality.

My sister-in-law, Amie had a difficult time with her first pregnancy. She had gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and ended up with an emergency c-section weeks before she was due. Now she's pregnant with her second child and has a c-section scheduled for May 12th. This time around things have been great. Her sugar is great and her blood pressure was under control until this weekend. She had headaches all weekend and went to the doctor. Amie's blood pressure was really high and she was admitted into the hospital. Which I know was her worst fear. The doctor has decided to delivery the baby tonight. I'm praying for Amie and Delaney's health and safety tonight. I know that they will have a difficult road ahead of them.

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny didn't visit our house this year. Since we just had Liv's birthday last week we figured she had enough new toys. Don't worry, Olivia got an Easter basket from Grammy.  Jesse had to work today and I'm not brave enough to take Olivia to church by myself so we stayed home and watched a nice service on tv.
After Jesse got home from work we headed to Grammy and Pap's for dinner. It was the first time I didn't pack food for Olivia. She ate what we did and said "mmm" after every bite. We had a great dinner. I made banana pudding for dessert. Surprisingly most of Jesse's family had never heard of it. How's that possible? I guess it's a southern food. Liv loved it but she loves all things banana.
Olivia loves playing at Grammy and Pap's because they don't have any gates and she's free to go everywhere. She also loves playing and chasing Apollo. She even tried climbing up the stairs. She got up five steps before she wanted down. I think she would have gotten further if she wasn't wearing a dress.
We had a little egg hunt for Olivia. Well we didn't hide them, we just put them out. She had no problem finding the eggs but didn't want to put them in the basket. Instead she wanted to eat them. Ha!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Our little Livie did. She passed out once we got home.

Happy 30th Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful sister Nichole! She's such a wonderful sister and friend. She's an amazing woman and I'm so proud to have her in my life.

Weekend of Firsts

Thursday morning we were ready to start weaning Olivia off formula. Everyone recommended mixing the formula with the milk until she's use to the milk. Everything we read said that mixing it is to help babies get use to the taste of milk. We only had a tiny bit of formula left and didn't want to open a brand new container for weaning so we took a chance. We gave Olivia a bottle of milk and she loved it! She didn't have any reactions to the milk so we are officially formula free (until October). Yay! Now we have to wean her off the bottle.
Friday morning, Liv was suppose to have a play date but her little friend was sick so we spent the day at home. Liv spent most of the day climbing up onto the couch. She loves just sitting up there. Unfortunately Olivia's way of getting down is just to fall off head first. We're trying to teach her a safer way down. Surprisingly though she never cries. Liv also loves sitting in her chair. To get off she scoots to the edge and jumps off.  Usually she lands on her butt. It's so cute!
Since we had some extra home time I packed up winter clothes and brought up spring/summer clothes. I can only use 3 shirts, 3 pants and 2 pair of maternity jeans from last year. Everything else is sweaters and cords which I don't think will be very comfortable in the summer. So my closet is empty right now. But Liv's is full of the cutest outfits.

I also discovered that I have less laundry to do if I take Olivia's shirt off before she eats. She is very messy when she eats. Her favorite new food is black beans and they stain everything.
Today Olivia and I played outside, ran errands, had lunch with Jesse at the hotel and played outside some more. Olivia had the cutest pair of capris on today but they were a little tight on her and she kept falling. So we're retiring the pants.
Also I was a brave Mama tonight and gave Olivia a bath in the big bath tub. She seemed to like it so we're retiring her pink duck tub. She becoming such a big girl!
