Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day weekend.  Saturday Olivia and I hit three of our local farmer's markets and stocked up on strawberries.  We met up with Olivia's Grammy at one of the markets and took Liv over to see their petting zoo.  She just adores animals.
Sunday we went to the Weikel family cookout and had a blast.  Olivia loved playing with her cousin Brody.  My brilliant sister-in-law brought a pool and it kept the kids happy for at least an hour.
We were super busy chasing Olivia around so I didn't get many pictures.  While she was running around she fell on the driveway and got her first scraped knee.  I'm sure it won't be the last.
Today Jesse and I were both off work today.  Yay!  This morning Liv and I played outside while Jesse did yard work.  Then we went to his parent's house for another cookout.  Olivia got to hang out with her Great Grandmother, Great Great Aunt, Great Great Uncle and Great Uncle.  A lot of greats.
Grammy set up the pool for Olivia to play in so she got to hang out in the pool twice today.  Plus she had a bath tonight.  Poor thing is turning into a prune.

Olivia was so busy this weekend that last night and tonight was the first time that Olivia went to bed without any protest.  Usually when I say it's time for night night, Olivia will throw her head back and start whining. Then she'll shake her head while she says no the whole time she walks to her bedroom.  She also usually fusses when I put her in her crib but she's not done any of that this weekend.  Instead she just gone to bed.  Hopefully she continue going to bed without protest.

Happy Memorial Day

Thank you to all who served and are currently serving our country.

20 Weeks

How far along: 20 Weeks
How Big is Baby: Our little girl is 6.5 inches long and weighs 10.6 ounces (she feels heavier than that today)
Sleep: I've made peace that it'll be at least a year before I sleep through the night again. Ha!
Best moment this week:  Seeing our sweet baby girl.
Movement: I feel the baby at least once a day and I love it!
Symptoms: Growing belly and heartburn
Food cravings: None
Gender: Girl!
What I am looking forward to: My next OB appointment on the 4th.

I can't believe I'm half way done with this pregnancy.  We'll see our sweet girl in 19 weeks!   We haven't picked a name yet.  We keep calling her different names, but haven't fell in love with anything yet.

I got a call from Dr. E today to talk about my ultrasound results.  She said everything looks great with the baby.  Unfortunately I have placenta previa.  She said 90% of the time it corrects itself so I don't have anything to worry about at this point.  Right now I'm on pelvic rest and should take it easy.  In six weeks I'll have another ultrasound to see if it has corrected itself.  After I googled it I have tons of questions and have completely freaked myself out but I'm just going to be positive and I'm sure everything will be okay.  Right now I'm just enjoying this beautiful evening  with my family.  Olivia and I are on the sun porch while Jesse mows the grass.  Olivia waves at him every time he drives past us.  So sweet!

Freezing Breakfast

This weekend I realized we were in a breakfast rut when Olivia refused to eat her banana.  She typically has a banana with Cheerios or scrambled eggs.  Apparently she's had enough with bananas because all she did was throw it off her tray.  Jesse and I are in a rut.  He never eats breakfast and mine is usually a bagel from Panera or a zip lock bag of dry cereal.  So it's time for a makeover.  I don't have time to cook breakfast during the week so I decided that I'd cook a month worth of breakfast items today (man I'm tired).  Everything I made I  froze so we could grab it and run.

Oven French Toast- The sample I had was very good. I think Livie and I will have it for breakfast tomorrow.  They are more French toast fingers which makes travel easier.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins- I think these are my favorite.  Liv and I had one with lunch.  The recipe makes 2 1/2 dozen so we have plenty to eat.
Cinnamon Raisin Biscuits- The recipe calls for a glaze.  At first I wasn't going to use one but the biscuits are much better with it.  I think it's because there is no sugar in biscuit.
Sausage Egg Muffins- I actually made two batches of these muffins.  I added minced garlic instead of powder and cheese.  One of the batches I also added a can of Rotel.  The recipe doesn't say but it's best if you fill the muffin pan almost to the top.  The eggs don't rise that much.  Also I just added the meat to the mixture instead of adding it at the end.
Lemon Poppyseed Muffins- I had a boxed mix that was about to expire so I added it to my baking list.  I honestly believe making something from scratch is just as easy as getting it out of the box.

While I was in the baking mood I also made two batches of granola bars in hopes that I won't have to make them every week (like I have been doing).

For each of my recipes I used cup cake liner in an effort to reduce the amount of dishes in the sink.  I also added ground flax seed for some fiber and omega3.  Each week I'm also going to make a fruit cocktail to accompany breakfast instead of just banana.  Although it was a lot of work I love the idea of only cooking one (maybe two) day a month and not having to worry about breakfast.    Next month I want to try pancake and breakfast burrito.  Next week I'm hoping to tackle preserving strawberries and freezing dinner.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

I made these brownies for dessert tonight. YUM! They're brownies with chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in and a chocolate ganache on top.  I found the recipe at Bakerella.  She used boxed brownie and cookie mix but in my effort to make everything homemade I made mine from scratch.  It was totally worth the extra effort.  In fact I had extra cookie dough so I baked up some cookies too.  Who doesn't like having extra cookies around?  These brownies are very rich and go great with a glass of milk.

Beyond Excited

We're so excited to be having another girl.  I think Jesse is a little disappointed (what guy wouldn't be) but we're hapy Olivia's going to have a sister.  I hope they're best friends.  It was so wonderful seeing our little pumpkin today.  Words can not describe how amazing it is.  I always feel a wave of emotion wash over me every time I see her (I cried tears of joy all the way home). She was a very busy little girl today and would not sit still for the longest time.  The technician was able to get all the pictures she needed and we think everything looks great.  Our technician was very closed lip and wouldn't give us any information.  So hopefully she will get a clean bill of health.  The only thing we didn't get a picture of was her face.  She kept it covered with her hands the entire time.  Oh well, we'll see her in 20 short weeks.  I'm so excited.  Now we just have to come up with a name...
Her foot
Her alien shot.  Jesse was excited to get this picture.
Her super long legs
Covering her face
Yep, it's what it looks like.  I guess she really didn't want to show her face!  Jesse said she's getting a spanking as soon she comes out. Haha!

Online Old Wives Tale Test- GIRL

I guess it's a girl! HA! The Chinese Gender chart and Even and Odd test said Olivia was a boy.  I can't wait to see our little pumpkin tomorrow!! Stay tuned...

Baby Girl Shower

Today my Mother-in-law, Liv and I went to Hummelstown for cousin Janelle's baby shower.  Janelle and Eric are having a little girl at the end of July.  We had a great time.  It was nice to hang out with all the ladies in the family.
Olivia is showing Emma her new sunglasses.
I was so excited to snuggle with my adorable little niece Delaney.  She's so tiny and sweet.
We had to leave the shower early so I could get Liv home for dinner.  When we left Janelle was still opening her gifts.  She had been opening them for an hour and ten minutes! Their little one is very loved.
Once we got back to town I was too tired to cook so I stopped by Panera Bread and picked up dinner.  I got Liv a turkey sandwich (with organic cheese) and it came with organic yogurt.  Now that's what I call fast food!  Liv hasn't been eating much this weekend.  Last weekend she would have eaten all her sandwich, yogurt and apple.  Tonight she barely eat half.  "They" say it's normal for toddler's appetite to decrease.  I just hope she doesn't start getting picky about what she eats.

18 Weeks

How far along: 18 Weeks
Sleep: The same as it’s been. I pass out at 10 pm and usually wake up around 4 am for an hour or so. Then I fall a sleep for 10 minutes and then Olivia wakes up.
Best moment this week: I got to hear the baby’s heart beat two weeks in a row.
Symptoms: Nothing
Food cravings: I'm obsessed with Snapple
Gender: I still think it's a girl but for Jesse's sake I hope it's a boy.
What I miss: Nothing
What I am looking forward to: Our ultrasound on the 19th.  Jesse forgot about a meeting he had on the 13th so we had to reschedule it.

I'm feeling great! I'm in the happy stage.  I'm not sick anymore and I'm still comfortable.  However last night at dinner they sat us in booth and my tummy is definitely getting bigger.

I had my breast ultrasound and there are two lumps that feel like one, but my doctor was correct and it was just dense breast tissue.  I have nothing to worry about.  But I am very thankful that I do self breast exams every month.

I also talked to Dr. E about delivery options.  Since labor didn't progress for me (12 hours on Pitocin and only made it to 3 cm) and I had a c-section I will more than likely have another c-section.  If I show up before 39 weeks in labor then we can try a natural labor.   If it doesn't happen before then (Olivia was late) then they will do the c-section.  They will not induce labor.  So if everything goes according to schedule and there are no complications the baby's birthday will be October 5, 2010.  I can't wait to meet the little one!

I also got my glucose test results today...I passed! Yay!!

Happy Mother's Day

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -
I
had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.
I had a great Mother's Day.  Jesse had to work so Livie and I had a Mother/Daughter day.  We spent the day baking bread, granola bars, cake and chex mix.  Hopefully we're set with snacks for a while.  Olivia was mommy's assistant today.  She even wore an apron.  Actually the only assisting she did was moving the stool around the kitchen so she could get stuff of the counter.  But we still had a lot of fun.
Jesse came home early from work and let me take a Mother's Day nap.  When I got up I was surprised to find that he put away the laundry.  He's never done it before.  It was very sweet...he hung up my pjs.
Then we went out to dinner.  I had a cute dress picked out for Livie to wear but it's very cold outside so she wore jeans and black shirt and of course our waiter called her a boy.  I told Jesse from now on if she not in pink she's wearing a bow. Tonight was the first time we've order off the menu for Livie.  She had chicken fingers and the salad bar.  Jesse also gave her ketchup for the first time.  She made a face every time she ate it but didn't stop eating it.  Also note the insane smile she gives when she sees the camera.  It's hilarious.
I had a great day with my two loves.  I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Windy Day

Livie and I had a great day.  We were suppose to attend a Mother/Daughter lunch but it was canceled at the last minute so we hung around the house this morning.  It was probably for the best since Livie's morning nap was an hour and 45 minutes!  She usually only sleeps 45 minutes to an hour.
After lunch we went to the Scotland Memorial Day Parade.  I love that all we only had to walk two blocks to get there.  No parking issues.  Our little town of Scotland is only two miles long and the parade was maybe 1/2 mile long but over an hour long.  Livie had a lot of fun.  Since we live in a farming community there were a lot of tractors in the parade.

Later we headed out to run some errands.  One of our stops was Bender's Potato Barn to pick up some dry goods and honey.  They have an indoor beehive.  Then Livie and I walked around and looked at the animals outside.  She loved the goats and desperately wanted touch them.
While we were out we also stopped by Gigi's house for a visit.  They played and then we visited some friends in her community before heading back out to run more errands.

Unfortunately Livie didn't get to play outside today.  We are having a very windy day.  At times the gust were over 40 mph.  I was worried she would blow away.  Ha.  While we were looking at the animals at Bender's a gust of wind blew a bench toward Liv and I.  Thankfully I was able to get us out of the way before it hit us.

Happy Friday

Today was a great day.  I had an OB appointment this morning and got to hear the baby's heartbeat.  It was a strong 148-150.  It's nice that they baby is getting bigger so Dr. E doesn't have to search for the heartbeat.  It's such sweet. sound!!  I also had to take my early glucose test this morning (not as much fun).  I'm hoping that I have god results on Monday.  I know so many people that have recently failed their first test.  Fingers crossed that I studied hard enough to pass. ha!

At lunch I got to snuggle with sweet little Liam.  The Feather family has been blessed with the cutest little boy.  I'm so happy for them!

After work I had a nice relaxing post-birthday/Mother's day pedicure.  It was so nice a peaceful I almost fell asleep.  When I got home Jesse grilled dinner and we played with Olivia until she passed out.  I hope you had  a happy Friday too!

17 Weeks

How far along: 17 Weeks
Sleep: The same as it’s been. I pass out at 10 pm and usually wake up around 4 am for an hour or so. Then I fall a sleep for 10 minutes and then Olivia wakes up.
Best moment this week: I got to hear the baby’s heart beat and I definitely felt it move.
Symptoms: Nothing
Food cravings: All things pineapple
Gender: Unknown, but I feel like it's a girl (I'm sure I'm wrong)
What I miss: Nothing
What I am looking forward to: My next OB appointment on May 7th. We also have our ultrasound scheduled for May 13th!

I’m feeling great. I’m in the happy comfortable stage of pregnancy. I’m still tired a lot but that’s from not sleeping well at night and chasing a 13 month old. I don’t know where she gets the energy. She’s like a mini tornado.

Friday I had a doctor appointment. I have an abnormality in my breast and was there for a follow up. My doctor is not concerned about it, but I’m having an ultrasound tomorrow to determine what the mass is. Anyway while I was there Dr. E went ahead and measured me and I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat. It was in the high 140s. The sweet thing sounded like a horse gallop. I was also given the orders for my anatomy scan so I scheduled it for May 13th. I’m very excited to find out the sex but I’m more excited about seeing the baby and making sure that the little pumpkin is growing like he/she should.

I’m not excited about my OB appointment this Friday. I have to have my first sugar test. Jesse keeps telling me to make sure I study. Ha! Wish me luck!

Gardening Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend. We didn't do anything special. The only difference was that Jesse was home ALL weekend. Yay!!

After breakfast Saturday morning we headed out to Lurgan Nursery and picked up some veggies for our garden. We also picked up some annuals for our butterfly garden. Olivia has a new set of wheels that we tried out at the nursery. I got her any umbrella stroller. I need something lightweight for this summer and this works perfect for us.

Jesse showed Olivia the fish that are for sale.

After we got home Liv and I played while Jesse started weeding the butterfly garden.

While Liv and I were on the porch and she discovered that we have a cat door. Thankfully she didn't try to crawl through it.

Olivia's Grammy got her a a play yard for Christmas so we broke it out while I helped Jesse. She played in it for about 10 minutes then stood up and put her arms up. She'd had enough.

Today Jesse hung Olivia's swing in our back tree. She loved it.

We also set up her pool. Olivia splashed around in it while we waited for the water to warm up.

The after two hours of rain Liv suited up and headed out to the pool. She seemed a little unsure at first but seemed to have fun.

Jesse worked all day and got our veggie garden planted. We have tons of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions, strawberries, and herbs. We would have loved to plant more but ran out of room. This is our second year planting a veggie garden. I'm proud to say that our garden is pesticide-free again. Last year the rabbits didn't bother our garden either, I hope we're as lucky this year. I can't wait to harvest some food.

I also made a composting bin this weekend. I'm very excited to reduce our waste and start my own form of recycling.
