2 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
1/2 cup dried fruit, optional
1/2 cup chocolate chip, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl mix oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, flour, salt, nuts, dried fruit and chocolate chips. Make well in the center of the mixture and pour in honey, egg, oil and vanilla. Mix well. At this point it's best to use your hands.
Press the mixture into the pan. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the edges brown.
Let it cool for five minutes, but make sure to cut into bars while it's still warm. Store in a airtight container.
