We've got the yuckies

We all came down with the stomach flu this weekend. It started with Jesse Saturday afternoon and then spread like wildfire through the family. Today involved lots of napping, cuddling and reading. I'm hoping that tomorrow everyone is back at 100% {or at least 85%}.

Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday and we celebrated in style. We had a couple of friends over to make Mardi Gras masks and pasta necklace.
I colored the pasta by mixing a tablespoon of vinegar, a couple of drops of food coloring and dry pasta in a glass bowl. Then let the pasta dry on wax paper.
We also had King cake {minus the baby}. I made it with a can of cinnamon rolls. I unrolled the dough, braided four strands together, braided the other four strains together, shaped the braids into a ring and pinched the ends together. After it baked {according to package directions} I decorated it with colored frosting and white sprinkles. The kids loved it! Olivia only wanted purple pieces.
So tell me did you celebrate Fat Tuesday? Are you giving anything up for Lent?

Craftiness {Valentines}

Miscellany Monday

We woke up to a dusting of snow Saturday morning. There is something so magical about snow. I love snow covered trees. I love how crisp and pure it looks. I don't know if I'll ever get tired of it. I don't think the girls will either.
Emily has started bringing me a princess dress to put on her. Once it's on she'll twirl around. So stinkin' cute.
I took Olivia with me to Walmart this weekend. Lately she has insisted on walking while we shop. Thankfully with a lot of patience {on my part} and redirecting we survived our shopping excursion. Since she was well behaved I rewarded her with a quick trip to the pet store. She had so much fun. She got to pet a kitty, bunny, hamster, and guinea pig. This past week she's been asking for a fish for her birthday. She wants a purple one and will name it, A Fish.
Are mailboxes are full of valentines. Just one more day!

Things I don't want to forget:

Olivia calls ground meat {beef, turkey, chicken} meatloaf or meatballs.

When Jesse or I spell a word Olivia starts saying her ABC's.

Emily can blow her nose. So cute!

When Olivia eats and apple she says "Snow White eats apples too".

Ten on Ten {February 2012}

We had a wonderful day. The girls got surprise packages from their Nanny this morning. We had small group over for coffee and play. Olivia and I baked cookies, finished making their valentines and Emily ate her foot for dinner. How was your tenth?

The day she turned 15 months
The day we lost my father-in-law
The day we came home from the beach
One month ago today
She began to walk
I believe her Pap gave her some words of encouragement that day.

Muddy {fun}

We've had some unusually warm weather the past two days. I loved that I could say yes when Olivia asked to go outside. Tuesday while Olivia was outside she found some mud and happily stomped around in it. Side note, I cannot take credit for her outfit. She picked it out all by herself.
Since Olivia loved the mud so much, I set up a mud table for her on Wednesday. We had a blast. We lots of mud cupcakes with candles. Each time we made one she sang Happy Birthday {she's very excited that her birthday is two months away}.
It was a great start to February. You can see Olivia's first experience with mud here {it makes me laugh out loud every time I see it}.
